Busy happenings lately. Art took some time to attend a guitar clinic with Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar and Grady and have his signature Obey! telecaster signed. It now has magical properties and will result in more incredible sounds.
Upon returning from the clinic, Art immediately retuned to open G and began experimenting with some new, more bluesy rock type sounds.
Further to that, Art attended the Grady show at the Plaza Club tonight with a local friend and band supporter.

While the band currently has no December dates lined up, you can check out the new Christmas tune to tide yourself over until the new tracks for the upcoming spring release have been mastered and are ready for a preview.

All bands must evolve to survive. Rest assured, as much as Art may wish it, cutoffs and mullets are not the direction the band has taken.

As to whether Art will decide to play the next show in his stylish ripped clothes, this remains to be seen, and may in fact rely on a last minute wardrobe change should the venue provide the band with Pilsner before they go on stage.

The band would like to apologize to all the fans for the lengthy delay in any kind of update.

The proceeds from the last tour have helped Krew Ton purchase a new home, Ré d'Onion a new car, and Art E. Choke tuition money for his backup plan of a Masters for the possibility of the breakup of the band if it ever happens. You can't be too careful kids, remember that.

In other news, the band is in the process of finalizing some new studio space to call their own, and there may be the possibility of a fourth face contributing to some new material. Details on the newcomer will follow once the band decides it fits in the grand scheme of things.

In music related news, Art has been hard at work experimenting with some new sounds to bring to the next record. Look for some prog rock influence as well as some more bluesy melodies to anchor the forthcoming material.

Tossed Salad and Co. recently celebrated the 22nd birthday of bassist Ré d'Onion at the Relish Lounge where the band blew everyone away with their covers of GnR and Journey.
The party rocked so hard that Ré even got face herpes from a muff dive. Classic rockstar.

Tossed Salad will be making a special appearance tonight at The Blarney Stone in Vancouver's Gastown district to help celebrate Art's 23rd birthday. This is a free event with the exception of cover at the door which the band feels is a fair trade for getting to hang out with them.
Secondly, a week from now the band will be holed up in a studio for several hours rehearsing and recording some new tracks before the upcoming tour. Watch for studio pics and video to follow.
Dont' forget to get some Tossed Salad swag which would make a great birthday present.

Things have been a little slow for the band lately. Christmas found the band members doing their own thing for a few days, but were reunited in time for a New Years Eve of banging pots and breaking spoons and dancing to 80s tunes.
With some new scheduling conflicts the band has found it hard to get some decent studio time to go in and lay down a few more tracks.
All hope is not lost though as a once forgotten and half finished song was dragged back to life and will now be featured on the band's next release under the title of Clicks and Diamonds.
As well as the track that was brought back from the dead, another Diztracktion Trackz song was finalized under the moniker of Republic of One. It presents a new, more electronic and mellow direction to the B-Sides featured on this limited edition release.
Look for the band to return to the studio in the near future and be sure to check back for pictures of their time recording.

Push Repeat and Play

The band members have been taking the last little while off from recording to take care of personal business. The break might prove to be beneficial since it will let them recharge a bit.

It also allowed the band time to relax a little and take in the finer aspects of the Vancouver night life. Check out some video of Art and roadie P "Twanger" B at the Cambie from last weekend.

Even though the band has been on a short break, they still took the time to come up with a few distraction tracks. Most notably is a track called Plastic Pills(Plaztik Pillz) about a robot who goes crazy but doesn't realize it. The influence for this song came from a picture of Robby the Robot. Not this picture, but that is the right robot. When the new record comes out, keep an eye out for the limited edition version which will include both the new cd and the 'Diztracktion Trackz" cd.

Last night Tossed Salad enjoyed a bbq of vegetables and goose meat.
Krew Tonne was skeptical at first, especially after picking the only piece of meat with buckshot in it. Good news, buckshot does not affect drumming abilities.
Ré spent some time designing new band clothing.
Art spent his time cursing at the Nashville Predators.

Just a quick update on the status of the band...

Krew Ton is in Burlington this weekend to help celebrate one groupie and one roadie get married.

Earlier today Ré and Art went to look at designs for the new band merchandise.

Currently Ré is eating tacos and enjoying an art show, while Art is taking the night off and drinking Neocitran before he continues tweaking some tracks tomorrow.

The members of Tossed Salad held a band meeting with new groupie Spicy Pi last night to watch the Vancouver Canucks lose to San José. The resulting emo mood from Krew Tonne was quickly shut down because there's no way in hell Tossed Salad will ever turn emo.
Tonight Tossed Salad will be hosting a gathering at The Blarney Stone, so if you want to come out and rock it Tossed Salad style head down there tonight.

Art E. Choke took a trip up to Kelowna this past weekend to visit with band groupie MarniE! to make sure that recruitment was going well for roadie and groupie prospects for next year's tour.
It was decided that the band dressing room will be stocked with grapes, chocolate covered almonds, and peach and blueberry pie, and that the only entertainment allowed will be Kenny vs. Spenny.

Tossed Salad members Ré d'Onion and Art E. Choke spent the day on set at an exclusive filming for Fantastic Four 2. While both Ré and Art declined a generous offer to have short speaking roles, they instead offered to provide creative energy to the official soundtrack.
Ré and Art gave a small unplugged show to Jessica Alba as she took her lunch break in her trailer to preview the upcoming album. This was received with great appreciation and the word quickly spread among the crew that the new album should be the feel good album of 2007.
Elsewhere, Tossed Salad drummer Krew Ton lent his voice to a karaoke party in Toronto where he was busy organizing roadies for the early 2007 cross Canada tour.

so the two sober members of tossed salad - Art E. Choke & Re d'Onion - hit it up at the chili peppers concert on the 14th of september...not only were we there to see one of the coolest bands ever...but also to take note of their performance skills so we could spice up our own live show...

Art learned how to dance like Anthony Kiedis and pick like John Frusciante and I melted at the sound of Flea and his bass...it was pretty steller...we also took some drumming notes for Krew Ton since he was MIA...the drums lite up every time Chad Smith hit them...it was pretty sweet!!!
